About
33 Officina Creativa invites artists working in visual arts and music/sound art to apply for a two-month summer residency in the medieval hilltop village of Toffia, in the heart of the Sabina region, approximately 60 km northeast of Rome.
This residency is conceived as a period of deep research and production rooted in place: in Toffia’s stone streets, its sounds, its light, its community. Artists are encouraged to engage directly with the village as both subject and site — developing new work that exists in dialogue with the landscape, architecture, and people of Sabina.
Location
Toffia is a small, quiet medieval hilltop village in Sabina — a deeply rural landscape of olive groves, river valleys, and ancient Roman roads. The residency is hosted within a deconsecrated 13th-century church, now an active cultural space (33 Officina Creativa) that serves as theater, concert hall, studio, and meeting place for the local community.
What we are looking for
Artists who are curious, site-responsive, and eager to work in a genuine relationship with a specific place and its community. We welcome proposals for:
Temporary or permanent site-specific visual installations in the village
Visual art (murals/installations/projections/film/photography), sound art, music, or acoustic interventions responding to the landscape or architecture
Performances, actions, or durational works designed for the Village Festival
Hybrid or interdisciplinary projects combining visual and sonic practice
We are particularly interested in artists who approach their practice as a form of research — using the two months to develop and refine work that would not exist without this specific place.

The Village Festival · 12–16 August 2026
The Toffia Village Festival is the beating heart of the summer calendar — five days of celebration, gathering, and community that transform the village into an open, porous space for encounter. It is the ideal context for site-specific and participatory work.
Resident artists will present new work developed during the residency period as part of the festival programming. This can take the form of a permanent or temporary installation sited in the village, a live performance or sound intervention, a public action, or a combination of approaches. The format is open and developed in conversation with the organizers.
